Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark is available now!

I'm new to video calibration. Will I find the UltraHD Benchmark confusing?

Unlike previous editions, we did not include pop-up help or a manual with the UltraHD Benchmark. We have moved to electronic instructions. You can find them under Articles->3rd Edition.

If you are new to calibration or our Benchmark series, we recommend you read the articles before purchase to ensure you are comfortable with calibration.

I don't have an UltraHD Blu-ray Disc Player, will I be able to play the UltraHD Benchmark?

No, the UltraHD Benchmark will only work on an UltraHD Blu-ray Disc player. If you have a standard HD Blu-ray Disc player, you will need the 2nd Edition HD Benchmark.

Does the UltraHD Benchmark include 3D content?

No, the UltraHD BD standard does not include support for 3D, so we were unable to include 3D patterns on the disc.

Does the UltraHD Benchmark include audio test tones?

No, the UltraHD Benchmark does not include audio test tones. The only audio related content is for A/V Sync.

We are looking at offering a companion disc in Q2 of 2020 that offers both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio.

Is UltraHD Benchmark encoded with a region code?

No. The UltraHD Benchmark can be played on an UltraHD Blu-ray player in any region.

Does the UltraHD Benchmark include a blue filter?

No. We have not found any filter material that works with all HDR displays. We continue to evaluate filter material. Some displays include a blue-only mode in the display. On LG OLEDs, the blue only mode is called Colour Filter in their menu.

If believe you really must have a non-working blue filter, please contact us.

Can I use the UltraHD Benchmark with a display that isn't 3840x2160 resolution?

Yes, if your goal is to evaluate the down scaling of UltraHD content to an HD display. We do recommend the 2nd Edition HD Benchmark for those with HD displays.

Is there a PAL version of the UltraHD Benchmark?

No. The content is 23.976 (aka 24p), which is the world wide standard for UltraHD Blu-ray.
